Job Description:
To provide business analysis, report extraction and automation engineering support for the Credit Risk Regulatory Reporting Stabilisation Project (CRS Project), which includes enhancements across input data, RWA calculations, automated controls, and business processes. To support the implementation of the ‘IFRS 9 Supplementary Information Schedule (IFRS 9 Schedule)’ that will be submitted to the South African Reserve Bank Prudential Authority (SARB PA) monthly. Job Outline CRS Project Use business analysis, solutions design, process improvement, automation, and data extraction skills within the credit risk regulatory reporting environment in the Group Credit Risk (GCR) function. This will require hands-on efforts to enhance automation, system coding, processes, controls, data quality, and automation for the calculation of credit RWA and credit regulatory reporting for the entire group. Enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of processes used to produce the BA returns, and other regulatory reports like the Pillar 3 disclosures. IFRS 9 Schedule Create and implement practical, efficient and effective solutions to generate an automated IFRS 9 Schedule to submit to the SARB PA. This includes providing specifications as required, data engineering, automation, QA checks, stakeholder engagement, and implementation of the bank’s optimal solution. Specifications will include field definitions, descriptions and locations for each component required for the IFRS 9 Schedule, which may span across multiple systems. The gaps identified will be discussed and remedial solutions investigated. Each option is to be supported with documentation motivating the option in terms of resource and cost requirements. The implementation will involve hand-on coding of the required solution to prepare the IFRS 9 Schedule. The implementation may involve two parts: • Short-term solution: Implement an efficient and effective short-term solution to prepare the IFRS 9 Schedule using automation tools, whereby the data is available efficiently and correctly for reporting to the SARB PA each month. The short-term solution must be implemented by 30 Sep 2023, with limited resources from business. If possible, a dry-run for end August data is required. • Design of an efficient and effective long-term solution for the IFRS 9 Schedule. Where appropriate, a Project Plan will be created for the implementation of the formal long-term solution and implemented accordingly. Skill Requirements The following skill set will be required: • Business analysis: map current processes, identify better solutions, implement solutions where possible (data extraction and simple office automation), spec solutions that require IT support, documentation, testing, change management • Data engineering: ability to extract and transform data, to create data-stores, define reports, and automate data processes using SAS and SQL • IT specialist: ability to understand and document system architecture and process flows. • Problem-solving skills, with experience in improving processes to achieve efficiency and effectiveness. • Automation: ability to automate repetitive tasks • Execution skills: able to design and implement effective and efficient solutions within tight deadlines. • Banking experience, including: o Credit Risk, especially calculation of credit RWA o Banks Act Regulations and Returns, especially asset classes o Financial reporting and reconciliations o Banking IT systems • Excellent communication skills. • Proactive, self-starting, and forward-looking: ability to identify and resolve blockers, and drive results in a collaborative, constructive manner
